Voting Guidelines

It may be overwhelming for you to choose your representative from the many that will contest. In an attempt to make your process of choice slightly easier, below are a few points that you may consider while voting.

  • Feasibility of Candidate’s Manifesto Points.
    • A candidate’s manifesto is an outline of his basic ideas for the betterment of the campus and all allied entities, so it is essential to keep the same in mind while making the choice of who you will vote for.
    • Key points that a manifesto can be graded on include feasibility, cost efficiency, and necessity.
    • Beware of overtly flashy points, because they might not come to fruition.
  • Candidate’s credentials, track record and eagerness to work.
    • The next few days will be filled with intensive campaigning on the candidates’ part, as they hope to make that one final push as the Elections approach. In such a scenario, it is important to examine and question each one of the candidates based on the criteria mentioned above, and satisfy yourself that you are comfortable with their intentions, and their willingness to undertake tough projects. An indicator of this particular aspect is the past work that the candidates have done. Every candidate will be willing to talk about his/her points at length, so do make use of the opportunity to clear any misgivings you may have.
  • Candidates’ performance in the Informational Seminar and the Auditorium Debate.
    • The Informational Seminar is intended to give you a first look at the candidates, their statements of purpose and their manifestos. It will also allow them to quiz their competitors on their manifestos. The Auditorium Debate will see the candidates being questioned on the feasibility of their manifesto points by a panel of senior students. Both the Informational Seminar and the Auditorium Debate are fairly good indicators of preparedness, depth, and understanding that the candidates have regarding their points, and it is recommended that you consider the candidates’ performance in the same while making your decision.

The above are only meant to guide and are not exhaustive. Make sure you vote and do spread the word!
